“Super Individual” addresses the underlying logic of how a person can work smartly and live well—what is worth doing and how to make a good life. “Super AI Individual” addresses the other half: how to hand off work that is not worth doing by hand, and do so with confidence, by establishing a sustainable environment, rules, and delivery standards for AI. Raymond describes the relationship as “the two sides of the Taiji symbol”: first learn a human way of working, then learn to manage AI’s way of working.
The judgment behind the concept is that within five years, departments that originally had a dozen people may shrink to two or three people plus a group of AI agents. As AI takes over much of execution, individual value will concentrate in judgment, taste, and taking responsibility.
When to use it
- When discussing “what people are really learning when they study AI”: it is not engineering ability, but the communication and judgment skills required to clearly state needs, rules, and acceptance criteria.
